Wanderers midfielder earns first senior international call-up alongside an A-Leagues graduate

Western Sydney Wanderers’ Dylan Scicluna has been called into the senior Malta squad for the first time.

Scicluna is the only new addition in the 27-man squad as European minnows Malta prepare to face Liechtenstein in a friendly on November 15 before a Nations League showdown with Andorra (November 20).

The 20-year-old, who has featured in all four Isuzu UTE A-League fixtures this season – has already represented Malta at the UEFA Under-19 European Championship finals as well as the UEFA U21 Championship qualifiers.

He is not the only Australian-born player in Malta’s squad.

A-Leagues graduate Trent Buhagiar has been called up again following his debut last month.

Now playing for Brescia in Italy’s Serie B after leaving Newcastle Jets at the end of 2023-24, the former Central Coast Mariners and Sydney FC forward made his debut against Moldova.
