Newcastle Jets ‘thrilled’ to recruit ‘clinical’ American forward

Newcastle Jets have signed American forward Gia Vicari for the 2024-25 Ninja A-League season.

Vicari joins last season’s Semi-Finalists the Jets from Danish side Odense Boldklub Q of the Kvinde-DM Liga.

She has also previously played for American University side Rutgers.

“I’m super excited to be here in Australia with the Jets! I’m grateful for the opportunity to play in the A-League and represent Newcastle,” Vicari said of Sunday’s season opener at home to Western Sydney Wanderers.

“The entire staff and team have been really welcoming and I’m looking forward to the season, doing what I can do to help the team succeed.”

Vicari joins Bel Rolley, Danielle Krzyzaniak, India Breier, Ava PiazzaChloe WalandouwJosie Allan, Mia Green, Claire Adams and Sheridan Gallagher (NRLW) as the new faces in Newcastle.

“I’m thrilled to be able to bring in a player of Gia’s quality to our squad,” said head coach Ryan Campbell.

“She has a strong eye for goal and has great experience playing abroad and will add to our attacking stocks.
