Adelaide United have signed ex-Tottenham defender Lucia Leon for the 2024-25 Ninja A-League season.
The history-making Dominican Republic international full-back arrives at Coopers Stadium from FA Women’s National League South outfit Watford, where she amassed 20 appearances.
Leon enjoyed a nine-year stint with Women’s Super League (WSL) club Tottenham and she etched her name in the history books after scoring Spurs’ first ever London Derby goal against Arsenal.

The 27-year-old played 56 games for Spain’s Madrid CFF and Real Betis after leaving Tottenham in 2021.
“This is the first time I’ve worn red (in my career). To me it means passion,” said Leon.
“I’m super excited to get started within an amazing team and in a great city.”
Leon joins Matilda McNamara, Tiarna Karambasis, Erin Healy and Fiona Worts as Adelaide’s new signings.
The Reds have also re-signed Katie Bowler, Zoe Tolland, Meleri Mullan, Sarah Morgan, Ella Tonkin, Nanako Sasaki, Emily Condon and Chelsie Dawber.
“Lucía is a highly experienced player, whose defensive prowess will bring a huge presence and stability to the United backline,” said Adelaide’s head of football Marius Zanin.
“Having refined her skills in the highly renowned Women’s Super League, FA Women’s National League, and Liga F, as well as multiple international caps, Lucía will provide a high level of leadership both on and off the park.”
