Central Coast Mariners land two-time WSL champion & Arsenal product: ‘It speaks volumes’

Central Coast Mariners have signed two-time Women’s Super League (WSL) winner and Arsenal academy product Brooke Nunn.

Nunn has joined the Mariners for the 2024-25 Ninja A-League season from Scottish outfit Hibernian and she arrives with “serious pedigree and experience”.

The versatile forward emerged at WSL giants Arsenal and was part of the team’s who won the league in 2011 and 2012, while she also claimed two Women’s FA Cup titles and a pair of League Cups during her time with the Gunners.

Nunn, who can also play in midfield, has also played for Turkish club Altay SK and English Championship sides London Bees and London City Lionesses.

She spent the second half of last season on loan at Motherwell in Scotland, where she scored five goals in one-and-a-half seasons with Hibernian.

“I am super excited for this new challenge in my career with the Central Coast Mariners. I can’t wait to put the shirt on and play for this team in front of our fans,” said Nunn.

“The club have big ambitions, a great long-term vision and a strong work ethic which I am very grateful to be a part of.

“There’s a great family feel between the players, club and the local community, which is something that I am proud to be a part of.

“I am hungry to compete at the top end of the league this season and help push the girls to an even higher finish on the competition table than last year. I just can’t wait to get out on our incredible stadium and meet our amazing fans.”

Nunn is Central Coast’s latest signing from England ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The Mariners pulled off an impressive transfer coup with the signature of English forward Jade Pennock on loan from Birmingham City.

Central Coast have also recruited Taylor Ray, while re-signing Annalise Rasmussen, Ash Irwin, Isabel Gomez and Peta Trimis.

“We are really excited to have Brooke on board for this season. The flair and creativity that she has on the ball, she will add a lot to our forward line and midfield as well,” said head coach Emily Husband.

“She is great in one versus one situations and can pick out a great pass moving forward. I think she will add something special to the squad.

“To have a player of that experience here will be superb for the entire squad. Coming up through Arsenal’s academy, it speaks volumes of the calibre of player that she is.

“I have no doubt that she will have a big impact on the group this season.”
