Adelaide United have significantly boosted their squad for the upcoming Liberty A-League campaign, re-signing midfielder Nanako Sasaki on a two-year deal.
Awarded the Dianne Alagich Medal after being voted the club’s Player of the Year in 2023-24, Sasaki has put pen-to-paper on a new deal which will see her remain in Red until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Joining the club back in 2021 following spells with Adelaide City and Adelaide Comets, the Japanese central midfielder has been an ever-present in the heart of the Adelaide team, making 50 appearances and scoring four goals.
“Winning the Dianne Alagich Medal last season was very special for me and it makes me want to keep playing my best next season.
She added: “Adelaide United feels like home, and I’m happy to stay here and help the team for two more years.”

Following the news of her new deal, Sasaki now re-joins an Adelaide first team squad bolstered by the acquisitions of former defender and Australian international Matilda McNamara and former Central Coast midfielder Tiarna Karambasis.

“Nanako has been a standout performer for us over the past few seasons,” said Adelaide United’s Head of Football, Marius Zanin.
“We are delighted she has chosen to extend her time with Adelaide United, and we look forward to what she will achieve in the next two years.”
Furthermore, Sasaki also becomes the fifth player from last season’s squad to sign on for the new campaign following the club’s decision to hand new deals to Katie Bowler, Zoe Tolland, Meleri Mullan, Sarah Morgan and Ella Tonkin.
