The 67-cap Matilda and two-time Julie Dolan Medallist, who featured at the Paris Olympic Games this year, broke the Liberty A-League’s goalscoring record after becoming the first player to score 100 competition goals.
“I am excited to be continuing my football journey with Canberra United, a club that is incredibly close to my heart,” said Heyman, who announced her retirement in 2019 but returned to Canberra in 2020.
“The club is special to me, and I have enjoyed every minute of my career with Canberra. I am feeling incredibly good, physically and mentally, and am ready to hit the ground running in the new season.
“Playing in Canberra, and in front of our amazing supporters, has been up there with some of the best highlights of my career.
“I have made many memories playing for Canberra United and am looking forward to creating many more with Ant, the coaching and backroom staff, my teammates, and the fans.”

The two-time Premiership and Championship winner scored 17 goals – her best ever season, having found the back of the net 15 times in 2011-12 while equalling the Liberty A-League’s record for most goals in a season held by Matildas superstar Sam Kerr (2018-19 when there were 12 matches in the season).
Heyman’s historic season – one that saw her reach 110 career goals in the A-League – resulted in a return to the international arena having not represented the CommBank Matildas since 2018.
She scored four goals in a World Cup qualifier against Uzbekistan, while she also found the back of the net at the Olympics.

“We are thrilled that Michelle has elected to continue her career in green with us here at Canberra United,” said Canberra head coach Antoni Jagarinec.
“Michelle is unarguably one of the most famous footballers around at the moment, a leading light for the Matildas and a goalscorer of some repute.
“As our leading scorer last season, she was an inspirational figure to our squad, both on and off the pitch, and I have no doubt she will continue to be so.
“Her time with Canberra United has seen Michelle become our leading appearance maker, leading goalscorer, and earn legendary status. We are excited to see her continue her fantastic journey with us.”
