Canberra United have confirmed the return of talented and versatile midfielder Hayley Taylor-Young for the upcoming 2024-25 Liberty A-League season.
Taylor-Young makes her way back into the squad having missed the entire 2023-24 season due to an ankle injury.
The 22-year-old local fan favourite, who has been able to play full-back recently, had made 40 A-Leagues appearances for Canberra prior to that.
“I am really pleased to be back at Canberra United and can’t wait to get back into it,” Taylor-Young commented.
“I feel at home with Canberra United. It’s my hometown team and the fans are the best in the country. Playing in front of them every week is a real honour, and I love the noise and passion that they bring.
“It was disappointing to miss out last year due to injury, but I’m raring to go again this year and can’t wait to be back out on the field at McKellar Park.”
Taylor-Young progressed through Canberra’s academy, where she first made her name as a forward – scoring 39 goals in 46 matches in the NPL.
In 2022-23, before missing all of last season, she made 16 appearances for the capital club.
“Hayley is an incredible footballer, and we’re absolutely delighted she is back playing for the club,” said head coach Antoni Jagarinec.
“She has tremendous pace and can run all day. We all know how strong she is in defence, but she can also be just as effective up the top of the pitch in attack.
“Her versatility is a massive bonus for us.”
