Josh Nisbet’s debut touted after A-Leagues champion gets green light for Euro transfer

Central Coast Mariners have farewelled four Liberty A-League stars including Matildas regular Kyah Simon whilst in the Isuzu UTE A-League Sydney FC have snared themselves a Brazilian midfielder with Serie A experience.

Josh Nisbet could make his debut for Ross County next month after the A-Leagues icon received clearance to travel to Scotland.

Nisbet is all but set to complete his Ross County transfer following confirmation that his visa has been approved.

The 2023-24 Isuzu UTE A-League Johnny Warren Medallist is available on a free transfer after leaving champions Central Coast Mariners at the end of an historic treble-winning season in Australia.

Now, Ross County are planning to unleash the 25-year-old following the international break in September – with next month’s visit of Dundee FC touted.

“The deal for Josh has progressed really well over the last few days,” said head coach Don Cowie via Press and Journal.

“The visa has been granted today and now it is a case of getting him over from Australia.

“Over the next 24-48 hours we’ll be planning in terms of getting him over to Scotland.

“He has been working on his own recently, but had international football while we were on our close season break, so he was still playing and part of a squad.

“In terms of our schedule, we have an international break coming up in two weeks, giving him time to settle in and get used to things, get up to speed.

“Then, after that, he’s ready to hit the ground running.”

Ross County have drawn their opening two matches of the season in Scotland’s top flight.

They visit giants Rangers on Sunday (AEST).
