Brisbane Roar have re-signed CommBank Young Matilda Zara Kruger following her release from Liberty A-League champions Sydney FC.
After a successful season in Sky Blue which saw her play 17 games and score one goal en-route to lifting the Championship with Sydney, the 18-year-old now returns to the club where she made her league debut in season 2022-23.
“I really appreciate the opportunity to play for Brisbane Roar this season,” said Kruger after putting pen-to-paper on her new deal.
“I’m looking forward to playing back in my home state in front of some very supportive fans and I am honoured to be amongst a team of very exciting players.
She continued: “I can’t wait to get started with this team with an aim to make finals this season.”

Kruger is likely to head into the new Liberty A-League season with plenty of minutes under he belt given she was recently selected as part of the travelling CommBank Young Matildas squad that will take part in the upcoming 2024 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia this September.
SUPER SIGNING: Brisbane Roar retain Matildas forward after breakout season & Olympics debut
In what’s been a busy period for the Roar, the capture of Kruger comes after the club were able to tie down one of their key players from last season in the form of CommBank Matildas winger Sharn Freier.
Scooping four awards at the club’s end of season awards, 23-year-old Freier was rewarded for a stellar breakout season at Brisbane and has now pledged her future to the club, signing a two-year deal.
Elsewhere the club has also retained the services of goalkeeper Keeley Richards for the upcoming season whilst also signing trail-blazing Singaporean striker Danelle Tan.
