Brisbane Roar have re-signed star Sharn Freier on a two-year contract, the Liberty A-League side announced.
Freier’s commitment to the Roar is a huge boost ahead of the 2024-25 season after her breakout campaign in Brisbane and Olympic Games duty with the CommBank Matildas in Paris.
The 23-year-old, who signed her first professional deal in 2020-21, scooped four awards at Brisbane’s end-of-season awards – Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Player’s Player and Fans’ Player of the Year following a season that saw her score two goals and supply five assists in 22 matches.
Freier’s exploits saw her earn her maiden international call-up and she scored in a ‘B’ international friendly against Canada, while she was part of the CommBank Matildas’ Olympic squad, making her Games debut against Germany last month.
“I’m excited to be re-signing with Roar. Brisbane is my home, and I love playing here in front of the amazing fans that show up each week,” Freier said.
“It’s always a privilege to wear the orange jersey and I’m excited to be able to get the opportunity to help the team build from last season.”
Freier’s renewal follows confirmation of Alex Smith’s contract extension as Roar coach last month.
