Melbourne Victory have netted a transfer fee for Jamilla Rankin following her move to Hoffenheim in Germany’s Frauen-Bundesliga.
Victory have recouped an undisclosed fee for the 21-year-old full-back, who takes up an opportunity in the top tier of women’s football in Germany.
Rankin – an Australian youth international – joined Victory ahead of the 2023-24 campaign and made 10 appearances for Jeff Hopkins’ side, having spent four years with Brisbane Roar.
“Although we would have loved to have Jamilla at Melbourne Victory for a longer period, we’re thrilled to be able to provide another opportunity to an exciting young player that will see Jamilla play at the highest level abroad,” said director of football John Didulica.
“To be able to transfer players from the A-League Women into Europe, the US and Asia is a massive step forward for women’s football and is an important part of consolidating and growing our investment in pathways for girls and women.
“We wish Jamilla the best for her next chapter at Hoffenheim and hope to see her achieve big things in Europe.”
