Brisbane Roar have signed 23-year-old central defender Hosine Bility on a season-long loan from Portuguese side Clube Desportivo de Mafra.
Bility joins the club for the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign. It’s his first deal with an Australian top-flight club after stints in Denmark, Portugal and Iceland that followed a stellar stint at NPL South Australia club Croydon Kings where he excelled as a teenager.
Born in Guinea, Bility arrived in Australia aged six and grew up in Adelaide before making his first move abroad to Danish club FC Midtjylland in 2019 on a five-year deal. Bility played UEFA Youth League football with the club’s U19 side.
A loan to Fram Reykjavik was to follow in 2021 before a permanent move to Liga Portugal 2 club CD Mafra on a five-year deal. Two years into his contract at Mafra, Bility has opted for a “new chapter” on loan to Brisbane Roar.
The ball-playing centre-back and Olyroos regular says he hopes to help the Roar improve on their ninth-place finish in 2023-24 and push for silverware in his first Isuzu UTE A-League campaign.
“Hearing the exciting future plans from the club got me really excited to be coming to play for the Roar,” Bility said.
“My goal is to give everything to this club and their amazing fans. I’m also excited to be playing under Ruben (Zadkovich), his drive and determination for success aligns with my goals and ambitions.
“It’s a new chapter in my career, so exciting times, I want to help bring a Championship back to Brisbane.”
Bility is Brisbane’s fourth new arrival in the off-season, joining Marcus Ferkranus, Harry Van der Saag and Ben Warland at the Roar ahead of the 2024-25 season.
