Melbourne City have announced the departure of triple Premiership winner and 2021 Champion Nuno Reis following the conclusion of his contract.
The 33-year-old Portuguese defender earned ‘Club Great’ status during his four-season stint at City, contributing to three consecutive Premierships between 2021 and 2023 and playing a key role in the 2020-21 Championship triumph – the first in the club’s history.
The Sporting Lisbon academy product played 94 games for City in all competitions and was a key contributor to the club’s most decorated era in the Isuzu UTE A-League to date.
“It’s a bittersweet feeling to be leaving a club where I’ve made so many fond memories,” Reis said.
“This has been the best squad I’ve been a part of across my career and it’s been amazing to be part of such a highly successful era.
“My family and I have loved our time in Melbourne and would like to thank the City fans for welcoming us so openly from the start.”

City director of football Michael Petrillo said the central defender will be sorely missed having become a “much-loved figure” and leader at the club across his four seasons in City blue.
“Nuno has been a fantastic servant of the club across his four seasons and his consistency has been crucial to our success,” Petrillo said.
“His leadership and passion both on and off the pitch has stood out and as a much-loved figure at the Club, he will certainly be missed.
“We thank him for his immense contributions and wish him all the best for the future. Nuno and his family will always be welcome at Melbourne City.”
