Central Coast Mariners assistant coach Danny Schofield was shown a red card in Saturday night’s Semi-Final second leg against Sydney FC in extraordinary circumstances.
Mark Jackson’s right-hand man was shown an initial yellow card for dissent by referee Alireza Faghani after protesting a nudge from Hayden Matthews on Jacob Farrell, which was not deemed as a bookable offence by the official.
Faghani then gestured for Schofield to take a seat on the bench.
The Mariners assistant faked a sitting down motion, before springing back to his feet.
In turn, Faghani produced a second yellow card followed by a red card, sending Schofield off and ensuring he would miss next week’s Grand Final if his team progress.
The Huddersfield Town legend then made his way down the tunnel, making an offensive gesture to the pitch-side camera.
