Sydney FC teenager Jake Girdwood-Reich will serve a one-match ban following his red card in Wednesday night’s 1-1 Isuzu UTE A-League draw with Perth Glory.
The 19-year-old defender initially received a yellow card from referee Alex King for dragging Taggart down as the Perth captain attempted to control a lofted through ball aimed towards the edge of the penalty area before VAR intervened.

Football Australia’s Independent Match Review Panel (MRP) deemed Girdwood-Reich committed the offence of “Denying the opposing team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, as prescribed in Law 12 of the Game”.
He will now serve the minimum sanction which is one game, ruling him out of Sunday’s clash away to Newcastle Jets in Round 23.
Girdwood-Reich will be available for the April 13 derby against Western Sydney Wanderers.
