Western Sydney Wanderers defender Vicky Bruce has had her red card overturned by Football Australia’s Independent Match Review Panel (MRP) after she was sent off against Liberty A-League champions Sydney FC.
The American received her marching orders 18 minutes from the end, having brought down Cortnee Vine for what appeared to be the denial of a goalscoring opportunity which left Bruce and Western Sydney stunned.

In the aftermath, the MRP considered an Obvious Error application submitted by Bruce “on the basis that there was no obvious goalscoring opportunity”.
The MRP unanimously allowed the application, meaning Bruce will not be required to serve a mandatory one-game ban and she is now free to face Canberra United on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Adelaide United veteran Isaias will serve a one-match suspension after accumulating his fifth yellow card of the season in Round 19 of the Isuzu UTE A-League.
As a result, he will be absent from Adelaide’s Pride Round showdown against rivals Melbourne Victory on Saturday.
