Leena Khamis has called on her Western Sydney Wanderers teammates to make history in 2018-19 and reach the Westfield W-League finals for the first time.
Khamis was one of three former Sydney FC players to make cross-city moves for the 2018-19 Westfield W-League campaign to join up with her former coach Dan Barrett in red and black colours.

Wanderers are entering their seventh season of Westfield W-League football and their best result is a sixth place finish in their inaugural season in 2012-13.
After a pair of eighth place finishes in the past two seasons, Khamis believes it’s time Wanderers stepped up and that Barrett is the man to lead them to the promised land.

“The Wanderers W-League team haven’t made a finals series before and that’s our main goal to start with,” said Khamis, who has 25 caps and five goals for the Westfield Matildas.
“I’ve already had a good chat with Dan, our goals are the same.
“Obviously going the whole way, creating some history for the club.”

The 32-year-old had spent her entire career in Australia wearing the sky blue of Sydney FC and admits she’s exciting about pulling on a new jersey for the 2018-19 Westfield W-League season.
“It still hasn’t hit me yet, putting the Red & Black on for the first time,” said Khamis.
“I’m actually really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a big challenge.”
