Jets to hold open training session ahead of Grand Final

Grand Final fever is taking over the Hunter and Newcastle Jets are lapping it up, opening Wednesday’s training session to the fans.

Jets boss Ernie Merrick has urged his players to soak up the hype of Grand Final week and he’s staying true to his word, opening the gates to fans to see their heroes prepare for Saturday night’s decider against Melbourne Victory.

The session is at Ray Watt Oval from 10am on Wednesday.

Entry is free and fans will also get the opportunity to get autographs or a selfie with the Jets squad once training is over.

Excitement is really building in the Hunter ahead of Saturday night, with the Grand Final selling out in record time on Monday.

A stadium capacity crowd of 30,000 is expected at McDonald Jones Stadium, which would set a new record for any sporting event at the venue in its latest configuration.

It is the eighth consecutive Hyundai A-League Grand Final to sell out.

The match will be broadcast LIVE on FOX SPORTS and ONE with coverage starting at 7pm.

Due to ticket demand outstripping supply in Newcastle, Football Federation Australia is working with Newcastle City Council and its broadcasters to establish live sites for those who missed out.

Further details regarding live sites will be released in later in the week.
