Newcastle Jets are the first team through to the Hyundai A-League 2018 Grand Final following a 2-1 win over Melbourne City at a rocking McDonald Jones Stadium on Friday night.
Riley McGree’s jaw-dropping scorpion kick and Jason Hoffman’s predatory 75th-minute strike overturned the own goal that had put City ahead inside 15 minutes.

The result snaps the Jets’ long wait for a Finals Series victory, having last achieved the feat when they beat Central Coast Mariners 1-0 in the 2008 Grand Final.
And, having gone from last year’s wooden spooners to Semi Final victors, they will now contest their first decider since that storied triumph a decade ago.
Ernie Merrick’s men will discover their opponents when Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory meet in a blockbuster Big Blue at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.
That match will kick-off at 7:50 pm (AEST).
