Brisbane Roar coach John Aloisi flagged changes and confirmed many in his squad are playing for their futures following a disappointing early exit in AFC Champions League qualifying.
Roar were knocked out at Preliminary Stage 2 on Tuesday night as Philippines Football League champions Ceres-Negros came from behind to prevail 3-2 at QSAC Stadium.
“There will be changes, I guarantee that. I guarantee this season has not been good enough,” Aloisi told Fox Sports.
“We have to keep fighting through this season because we still have a chance of making finals [in the Hyundai A-League]. If we don’t, there will be changes.
“They have to pick themselves up, they have to have some pride as well.
“I won’t walk away, I will make sure I get things right on and off the pitch. There are a lot of things we need to get right off the pitch and then of course on the pitch.
“I can tell you now I won’t be giving up.”
Brisbane were twice punished from corners during the unexpected defeat which brought a premature end to their hopes of reaching the group stage.
Aloisi was adamant preparations for the match had been suitably thorough, but conceded some of his side may have switched off.
“[Ceres-Negros] weren’t better than what I expected. Maybe they were better than what some of the players expected,” he said.
“I said they were going to be a lot tougher than [fellow Filipino outfit] Global were last year.
“Maybe a few of the players thought once we went 1-0 up they were going to cruise through the game. And you can’t, you can’t cruise through any game.”
