He may have smashed a goal of the season contender but Melbourne City’s Dario Vidosic was more concerned about teammate Nathaniel Atkinson after his side’s 5-0 thrashing of Adelaide United on Sunday.

Atkinson went down in the second half after falling on his ankle. In great pain, he was taken off the pitch forcing the referee to add 10 minutes on in stoppage time.
Vidosic, who smashed an absolute stunner in the final minutes, was keen to offer words of support to his young teammate.
“It’s a bit of a sour note with Nathaniel,” he told Fox Sports.
“Our prayers are with him and we hope he’s alright and it’s nothing serious.
“He was in a bit of pain so I”ll give him all of this away and the goals. I’ll still take a 1-0 win and I hope Nathaniel will be with us this week.
“Our prayers are with him and we hope he makes a speedy recovery.”
Vidosic played up front with Marcin Budzinski and the pair hit a brace each in the win capped off by a late goal from substitute Ross McCormack.
It was Vidosic’s best game since signing from Phoenix in recent weeks.
“I just love playing football and I’ve come in, worked hard for the team and we’re really happy and to put five away is a great accomplishment,” Vidosic added.
City now face Newcastle Jets on Thursday night at AAMI Park in a huge game.
The Jets remain in second and City are now in third four points behind Ernie Merrick’s men.
