Adelaide United have confirmed the club’s High Performance Manager Greg King has left the Reds to join up with former Caltex Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou in Japan.
King will team up with Postecoglou at J-League outfit Yokohama F. Marinos ahead of the 2018 season.
It’s understood Postecoglou handpicked King after building a reputation as being one of the best in the business as an expert in high performance.
King joined the Reds at the beginning of 2015 and during his time at the club was responsible for managing the players’ fitness levels and looked after other aspects such as strength and conditioning, recovery, and injury prevention.
He was a part of the coaching staff under Gui Amor that saw the club claim the Hyundai A-League Championship and Premiership double in the 2015/16 Season.
“I am extremely grateful that Adelaide United has allowed me to pursue this exciting role working with Yokohama F. Marinos,” King said.
“I am also appreciative of the opportunity that the club has given me to manage the physical development of such a great group of players over my time in Adelaide.
“I feel I have learned a huge amount from the league, the players, and the previous and current coaching staff.
“The boys have been brilliant and taken everything in their stride. From a physical perspective, the players are in good hands with a group of intelligent, hard working physiotherapists and sport scientists taking care of the players.”
