Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold revealed his players lived up to a pre-match challenge to win 6-0 as they romped past Perth Glory on Saturday night.
Bobo struck a hat-trick for the second successive week while Brandon O’Neill, Alex Brosque and Adrian Mierzejewski were also on target at Allianz Stadium.
Arnold said the blowout victory – the Sky Blues’ biggest of the season – was exactly what he expected from his in-form side.
“We spoke during the week. I gave them the challenge of winning 6-0,” Arnold told Fox Sports.
“I expected that. Especially to be more clinical, and to finish off 2017 in a fantastic way.
“It’s been a fantastic year and now we move on to 2018.”
Sydney’s commanding victory moved them eight points clear in their bid for back-to-back premierships and they can widen that margin at home to second-placed Newcastle Jets on Wednesday night.
Arnold believes his team’s biggest obstacle to more silverware is themselves.
“It’s all about our attitude, what we want and what we will do,” he said.
“I’ve got a hungry group of players. I can see it in their eyes all week. You can see for my boys there was no Christmas.”
