Perth Glory defender ‘fuming’ over second half fade-out

An “angry” Shane Lowry slammed Perth Glory for collapsing in the second half of their 2-0 home defeat to Melbourne Victory on Sunday.

The visitors accelerated after half-time as quickfire goals from Besart Berisha and Leroy George consigned Perth to a third defeat in four matches.

Glory’s former Millwall man deemed the effort unacceptable.

“In the second half we shot ourselves in the foot. I’m fuming now to be honest with you,” Lowry told Fox Sports.

“So disappointed, angry. It’s just not good enough.

“We need to be better and luckily we’ve got a game on Friday night to try to turn it around.”

Perth, who have four days off before visiting Melbourne City, missed the likes of Diego Castro, Adam Taggart and midfielder Andreu as a lengthy injury list takes its toll.

“It’s not ideal but that’s football. I’m certainly not making excuses. I’m really annoyed with how results have been going,” the defender said.

“This is where we need to stand up as men and be counted and face it.

“We’re having a bit of a difficult time at the minute and we need to roll our sleeves up, get our heads down and work hard.”
