Hayley Raso celebrated her return to Suncorp Stadium with an 86th minute winner in Brisbane Roar’s hard-earned 1-0 victory over Adelaide United on Friday.
In the first home match of her second stint in Brisbane, the Westfield Matildas winger got on the end of Abbey Lloyd’s low cross and squeezed home a deflected finish to give the hosts their third win in four matches.
Katrina Gorry had gone within inches of opening the scoring shortly after the restart, while Roar goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold made a stunning save to deny the visitors an early lead.
Raso’s late strike temporarily sends Brisbane top of the Westfield W-League and capped a successful 100th appearance for foundation player Tameka Butt.
The Reds, meanwhile, remain stuck on three points after a second defeat in three matches.
