In-form Ross McCormack issues warning to Hyundai A-League rivals

Scottish striker Ross McCormack says his Hyundai A-League team Melbourne City are due to smash a few teams as they begin to really gel under new manager Warren Joyce.

Speaking after his brace helped City to a classy 2-0 win over Adelaide United in the City of Churches, a beaming McCormack told Fox Sports things will only get better.

And he’s issued a warning to City’s Aussie rivals.

“Obviously I’m happy about it. But the most important thing is we keep winning,” said the Scot, on loan at City from Aston Villa.

“It goes without saying, the more games we win the better chance we’ve got of finishing where we really want to finish.

“And on a personal level, it’s good to get some goals because it’s been a long time.”

For the Scottish international, his two goals make it three goals from four games.  He is clearly sending a message to his Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce that he’s still got the midas touch in front of goal.

The win maintains City’s  100% start to the season in Australia after four rounds.

City next face their biggest challenge of the season. A home game with reigning A-League champions Sydney FC.

“We’re doing well though in the second half we didn’t necessarily play too well.

“But there’ll come a game where everything will click and some teams will unfortunately take a beating.”
