In a blow for unbeaten Adelaide United, defender Ersan Gulum is set for s stint on the sidelines after puncturing a lung against Melbourne Victory on Friday night.
The Reds confirmed on Monday afternoon that Gulum broke a rib and punctured his lung in the 2-2 draw with Victory at Adelaide Oval and will be sidelined indefinitely.
The injury occurred in a challenge with Victory skipper Carl Valeri in the second half.
Gulum stayed down after the knock but managed to see-out the game, with Victory scoring late to snatch a draw.
He’ll miss the club’s Westfield FFA Cup semi-final on Tuesday night and the Reds said the Turkish international will see respiratory specialist to plan his return to the field.
The 30-year-old has been sensational for Marco Kurz’s undefeated Reds so far this season and is sure to be a loss, especially with a clash against league-leaders Melbourne City this Friday night.
