With the Westfield W-League 2017/18 Season to start this weekend, Perth Glory have added American duo Amanda Frisbie and Nikki Stanton to their squad.
Frisbie is a US Under-23 international who arrives in the west after a superb season with Boston Breakers in the National Women’s Soccer League.
The 25-year-old has also had stints at Seattle Reign, Western New York Flash, FC Kansas City and Icelandic club, Stjarnan Women.
Stanton, meanwhile, returns for a third season with the club having become a firm fans’ favourite thanks to her all-action displays in midfield.
Like Frisbie, Stanton shone in the NWSL last term, totalling 16 appearances on her way to taking out the Unsung Hero award for her club side Sky Blue FC, the same team that Sam Kerr plays for.
“Amanda is a left-sided centre-half who will offer balance to our defence,” Glory’s W-League General Manager, Callum Salmon said.
“She can also step into midfield to create overloads, has a great passing range and is a hard tackler with a winning mentality.
“Pace is another of her key assets and we feel that she will complement our other international recruits very nicely.”
“Nikki was one of the real driving forces in our run to the Grand Final last season.
“She is a key part of our structure with the discipline that she brings to that defensive midfield role. That ability, combined with her bravery and work ethic, places her among the top five midfielders in the W-League in our opinion.
“Nikki is also an excellent character off the field, a role model for our younger players and a real leader in the group.”
The pair should both be available for Glory’s Westfield W-League season opener against Melbourne City at nib Stadium on Friday night.
