Brisbane Roar’s Westfield W-League squad will have an American flavour with two new US signings announced on Saturday.
Talented duo Celeste Boureille and Carson Pickett join Mel Andreatta’s squad on loan for the 2017/18 Season.
They join countrywoman Maddy Evans, who played a key role in Roar’s midfield last season.
Pickett is an excellent defender, who was taken at pick four in the 2016 National Women’s Soccer League College Draft.
She has also battled adversity to get where she is after being born without a left forearm.
“What caught my eye was her ability going forward as a left fullback. Carson is super positive out on the park and her work rate is immense,” Andreatta said.
“She is a very good one-on-one defender and her height gives us a bit more cover for those teams that play directly against us and she certainly has the speed to help us in the front third too.
“From what I have seen Carson is a level-headed, smart defender who copes very well in difficult situations that are presented during a match. I am confident she is going to be an excellent addition to our talented group.”
Midfielder Boureille, 23, also has an impressive resume, helping Portland Thorns win the recent NWSL title.
She played her first Westfield W-League season with Canberra United in the 2016/17 campaign and has represented America at U-23 level.
“They understand that we are a very aspirational club and we are delighted to have them on board,” Andreatta said.
“This group of players are hungry for success and can’t wait for season 10 to begin.”
Brisbane Roar open the Westfield W-League season next Friday night at Allianz Stadium against Sydney FC.
