The start of the highly-anticipated Westfield W-League 2017/18 season is just over a week away.
We look at the candidates for this season’s Golden Boot.
Sam Kerr (Perth Glory)
The Westfield Matildas star is the logical place to start this conversation after the wonderful year she’s had for both Australia and her US-based side Sky Blue FC, where she broke the National Women’s Soccer League competition record with 17 goals. Defences will be on Sam Kerr alert all summer!
Nathasha Dowie (Victory)
Absolutely brilliant striker. The Englishwoman, who has also represented the Lionesses, is looking forward to leading the line for the Big V again. Has banged in goals for Liverpool Ladies and Boston Breakers and we reckon the 29-year-old will smash a few more across Oz this summer.
Feel so lucky to be a part of such an amazing club @gomvfc @victorywleague.. At the stadium today & every person I saw said welcome home! 💙

Hayley Raso (Brisbane Roar)
The livewire Westfield Matildas winger is coming off a stellar season in the USA with the Portland Thorns where she scored six times as her side claimed the NWSL title.
Kyah Simon (Melbourne City)
Simon is widely regarded as one of Australia’s most gifted players, having been part of the Westfield Matildas set-up since making her debut as a teenager a decade ago.
Ashleigh Sykes (Canberra United)
Sykes won the Westfield W-League Golden Boot last season, scoring a dozen times, and returns to Canberra United after helping the Portland Thorns win the National Women’s Soccer League title last weekend.
Lisa de Vanna (Sydney FC)
The Westfield Matildas’ all-time leading goalscorer has joined the Sky Blues fresh from her exploits against Brazil and will present a massive goalscoring threat this season.
Lee Falkon (Western Sydney Wanderers)
25-year-old Israeli striker has joined the Wanderers after two successful seasons with German club MSV Duisburg and has also played 37 times for her country.
Michelle Heyman (Canberra United)
The Westfield Matildas striker was part of the United squad which topped the regular season table in 2016/17 and has previously won the Golden Boot twice.
