Reds confirm new Hyundai A-League captain

Adelaide United have unveiled Spanish midfielder Isaías as the club’s new skipper for the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Season at their season launch on Saturday evening.

ISAIAS PROUD TO LEAD REDS

Isaias, who scored in Adelaide’s 2016 Grand Final win, said it was an absolute privilege to be handed the Reds captaincy.

“For me it’s something special,’’ he said.

“I know it’s a big responsibility to be captain but it’s something very nice for me and I’m very excited to be the captain of Adelaide United.

“I hope I can help the team to have a successful season.”

“I’m a natural leader, I have been the same since I started playing football. For me, my role will be very similar and almost the same on the field because that’s wat I have been doing in the past and it won’t be a problem for me.”

More than 300 guests attended the launch, hosted by media personality Tom Rehn.

Coach Marco Kurz said he has adjusted to life in Adelaide superbly, and outlined the team’s ambitions ahead of the new season.

The Reds kick-off their campaign on Sunday, 8 October away to Wellington Phoenix.

The club’s first home match is in Round 3 against fierce rivals Melbourne Victory at Adelaide Oval on Friday, 20 October.
