Brisbane Roar have signed Hong Kong International attacker Wai Ki Cheung for the Westfield W-League 2017/18 season.
Cheung becomes the first player representing the Hong Kong national team to sign up to play in Australia’s elite women’s club football competition.
Touted as one of the most integral members of the current generation of Hong Kong football talent, Roar’s new signing has the skill set that has helped her to be successful on the international stage.
The 26-year-old attacker is known for her impressive dribbling and precision passing ability on the pitch, as well as her knack to score goals.
Predominantly a striker, the new addition to Mel Andreatta’s side will prove an excellent option up-front for Brisbane as season 10 of the Westfield W-League competition draws nearer.
“I am pleased to welcome Wai Ki to the Brisbane Roar family,” Andreatta said.
“She brings more experience to our team and will be an important part of our attack.
“I hope our supporters will be as excited as we are to see her in action at Suncorp Stadium this coming season.”
Roar’s new recruit represented host nation Hong Kong in Round 2 of the East Asian Football Federation Tournament in November 2016 and earned praise for her performances that saw her get on the score sheet for her country.
Wai Ki Cheung joins Captain Clare Polkinghorne and goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold in committing their futures to the Roar Women.
