With two months to go until the start of the 2017/18 Hyundai A-League season, clubs continue to gain – and in some cases lose – players on their rosters.
Here’s your wrap of the last week’s transfer activity.
Dario Vidosic (Wellington Phoenix)
The Phoenix pulled off a major coup, gaining the signature of the former Roar, Reds and Wanderers playmaker for the season ahead.
Having played most recently for Seongnam in Korea, the Caltex Socceroo joins his father, Wellington assistant coach Rado Vidosic, in New Zealand’s capital.
Rostyn Griffiths (Departing Perth Glory)
Having rejoined Glory for a second spell at the start of last season, the Perth captain has joined join Uzbekistan top-flight club Pakhtakor Tashkent, leaving after making a total of 59 Hyundai A-League appearances, scoring eight goals.
Vince Lia (Adelaide United)
After his release following ten years at the Phoenix, the nuggety midfielder emailed the other Hyundai A-League clubs to gauge their interest.
The Reds offered him a trial, during which he impressed enough to be added to Marco Kurz’s roster for the 2017/18 campaign.
Chris Zuvela (Sydney FC)
The promising young attacker has been promoted to the Sky Blues’ Hyundai A-League playing squad for the 2017/18 season after standout performances in the Foxtel National Youth League and PS4 NPL NSW squads since linking with the defending champions’ youth set up in 2013.
Luke Brattan (Melbourne City)
Having spent last season with Melbourne City on loan from parent club Manchester City, the combative midfielder featured in all but two of his side’s games in 2016/17, playing a key role in their run to the finals.
With his loan extended for a further season, the 27-year-old will again be a big part of City’s plans to go even further this season.
Anthony Caceres (Departing Melbourne City)
After 27 appearances and two goals for City last season, the talented attacker has signed with Al Wasl FC in the Arabian Gulf League in the United Arab Emirates.
Jake Brimmer (Perth Glory)
The highly-rated Melbourne-born midfielder has spent the last three seasons in Liverpool’s academy system and has joined Glory despite strong interest from home and abroad. Was thrown in to Glory’s FFA Cup loss to Heidelberg last week immediately after signing.
The under-17 and under-20 international will be a superb addition to Perth’s engine room with his game acumen and technical ability sure to make him one to watch this Hyundai A-League season.
And watch out for his set pieces. The kid has a rare ability.
Mark Milligan (Melbourne Victory)
In a major boost to Victory’s hopes of regaining the Hyundai A-League silverware, the club talisman has rejoined the club as a marquee player.
The Caltex Socceroos skipper spent the last two seasons in the Middle East with UAE club Baniyas and rejoins the club he played 73 games for, in four previous seasons, helping them become champions in 2014/15.
Wout Brama (CCM)
After more than 300 games in the Dutch top flight with the likes of FC Twente and PEC Zwolle, the midfielder was snapped up by Paul Okon on a two-year deal, with the Mariners boss keen to sign an experienced defensive midfielder to join his side.
