Melbourne City have signed talented youngsters Connor Metcalfe, John Roberts and Ramy Najjarine to the Hyundai A-League club’s impressive list of scholarship players.

The trio join the likes of Denis Genreau, Dylan Pierias and James Delianov in filling City’s quota of scholarship players.
The A-League Scholarship program allows clubs to sign up to six players from its Foxtel National Youth League roster on senior contracts.
Najjarine, 17, has signed on a three-year deal, Roberts, 16, for two years and Metcalfe, 17, on a one year deal.
“Melborne City have long been known for their commitment to the development of young talent,” coach Warren Joyce said.
“Each player in this scholarship group has demonstrated significant potential over a period of time, and we look forward to seeing their progress as part of the senior squad.”
Metcalfe has been involved in City’s youth system for the past three seasons, first joining their National Premier Leagues program in 2014.
He earned a Foxtel National Youth League contract in 2016 before training with the senior men’s team last season.
Metcalfe was also a part of City’s triumphant National Youth League team which won last year’s decider in a thrilling contest over Sydney FC.
Roberts joins City from FFA’s Centre of Excellence in Canberra, where he has developed as a promising striker.
He captained Australia at under-16 level. The in Sierra Leone-born attacker began his career at the Football NSW institute program before making the move to the Centre of Excellence.
Najjarine is an attacking midfielder and joins City City from Western Sydney Wanderers.
He has represented the Joeys at international level and the 17-year-old is another product of the Football NSW institute program, graduating from Westfield Sports High.
