Outcome of independent MRP – Round 25

The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) – consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Adam D’Apuzzo, and Alan Contini – convened today to consider an incident involving Alan Baro (Baro) of Melbourne Victory which arose in or around the 71st minute of Melbourne Victory’s Hyundai A-League Round 25 match against Wellington Phoenix on Sunday, 2 April 2017.

The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as Baro was expelled from the match by the Referee.

Alan Baro.

The MRP determined that Baro committed the offence of “Denying the opposing team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity”.

The MRP has proposed a sanction of one match (the Mandatory Match Suspension), being the Minimum Sanction for the offence.
