Perth Glory have defeated the Western Sydney Wanderers 1-0 after scoring in the 93rd minute in Sunday afternoon’s Westfield W-League clash at Popondetta Park.
A strike from Glory’s Caitlin Doeglas in the final seconds of the match broke the deadlock against the Wanderers, earning Perth a home semi-final next week.
The first bit of action saw the Red & Black win a free kick after Paige Nielsen was brought down 20-yards out but veteran Joey Burgess could only lob her shot over the goal.
Perth nearly had the go ahead after Alyssa Mautz caused chaos in the box but luckily for the Wanderers Chloe O’Brien was quick to clear the ball to safety.
Burgess proved to be the centre of the Wanderers’ action as she made her through Glory’s defence but she couldn’t keep her shot under the cross bar.
Glory’s Shawn Billam tried to sneak a long range effort on the counter but it landed into the arms of keeper Jada Whyman.
The deadlock was broken in the final minute of the match with Caitlin Doeglass smashing the ball past Whyman.
Perth Glory now move on to next week where they will host a semi-final against Sydney FC.
