Tabain latest to bring up ton

Melbourne City midfielder Marianna Tabain became just the second player to crack a Westfield W-League century when she featured in last Sunday’s Melbourne derby.

Perth-born and raised Tabain follows on from Westfield Matildas co-captain and Brisbane Roar skipper Clare Polkinghorne who was the first to achieve the feat a week earlier.

Tabain spent seven seasons at Perth Glory and remains second on the club’s honour board for both appearances (77) and goals (20).

After helping the Glory to their first premiership, Tabain joined Melbourne City where she has continued her impressive goal return and was part of the record-breaking side which won last year’s championship.

Always with an eye of for the unexpected, the silky-skilled Tabain won the Westfield W-League’s maiden goal of the year aged just 16 for a spectacular curling effort for the Glory against Adelaide United.

Canberra United defender Ellie Brush and Sydney FC midfielder Teresa Polias could potentially be the latest to join the 100 club in this weekend’s round.

Brush was on track to be first to reach 100 appearances, only for an unfortunate injury to thwart those ambitions.
