A run of goals over the holiday period has seen Perth Glory’s Sam Kerr and Melbourne Victory’s Natasha Dowie open up a handy lead at the top of the Westfield W-League golden boot race.
The pair both moved to eight goals on the weekend with English striker Dowie netting a hat-trick in Victory’s remarkable 4-1 win at Brisbane Roar.
Westfield Matildas star Kerr scored a crucial equaliser as Perth drew 1-1 with Newcastle for her fifth goal in just three outings.
International pair Katie Stengel (Western Sydney Wanderers) and Jess Fishlock (Melbourne City) are the nearest challengers on five goals, with both scoring over the period.
Also on five goals is Jenna Kingsley who has now netted four goals in three outings.
