Lowe: Glory were lucky to earn point

Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe admitted his side were fortunate to escape with a point in Friday night’s 1-1 draw with a rampant Melbourne Victory.

The visitors led early through Andy Keogh but had to withstand a pile of pressure after Besart Berisha equalised just prior to half-time.

“(Victory) had enough chances to win three games,” Lowe told Fox Sports.

“It’s a tough place to come. Fair play to them, they were super on the night and they just couldn’t get the result.

Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory played out a 1-1 draw at AAMI Park on Friday night.

“Sometimes the better side doesn’t win.”

While the draw means Glory have won only once in their past six matches, the resilience to hold out for a point at AAMI Park will be a welcome boost after last weekend’s disappointing 2-0 defeat away to Central Coast Mariners.

Lowe acknowledged his fifth-placed side needs to improve but is far from panicking.

“We can see from the game we need to grow and evolve and that’s part and parcel of it,” the Glory boss said.

“We’ve been through a tough couple of years and we’re on the up.”
