New Adelaide United recruit Taylor Regan says the Reds have already put the loss to Western Sydney Wanderers behind them, fully focused on their clash with rivals Melbourne Victory on Saturday night.
Regan, who has just recently signed with Adelaide after a stint with Malaysian club, Negeri Sembilan FA, believes the Reds are heading in the right direction and admitted it was a tough loss to swallow, after the reigning Hyundai A-league Champions fell to Western Sydney last Friday night.

“Obviously it hurts to lose and to lose like that,” said Regan.
“We can say what we want about the game and how it eventuated, but we had enough chances to win the game and kill them off a lot earlier.
“So we look back at the match and look at the positives, we played some very good football for a new team that is still trying to build continuity in our style as well as the fact we created plenty of chances, however weren’t able to execute them to the best of our ability.
“We are hurting after the defeat, but obviously you look at last year and the situation that was and we are definitely heading on right track to success.”
When asked about the rivalry between Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory, Regan admitted that there has always been some feeling between both sides and believes that Saturday night will continue to deliver a fiery and pressured encounter.
“It’s no longer called the actual derby, but Adelaide United versus Melbourne Victory has always been spiteful,” said Regan.
“There has always been that sort of rivalry for as far back as the A-league’s been going and I expect that our fans will be there and turn up in numbers to watch us hopefully override the Victory this Saturday.
“If we can get the response from the fans that we had the other night, we welcome Melbourne Victory to come. They will definitely be hurting after losing last weekend however, we have eleven players who are hurting also, so it should be a very tough and physical match.”
Regan, who has only ever played for one other A-league club, being the Newcastle Jets, said he is looking forward to pushing for selection but said he was impressed with the fans last Friday and hopes that they find success soon starting with a win this weekend.
“Obviously I have played here before, but Newcastle Jets versus Adelaide United is different to Victory versus Adelaide,” he said.
“So I’m very excited to see what the atmosphere is like for this match.
“But the fans are truly the soul of any football club especially this one, because they stand up and applaud when the team plays pretty football and that for me is a big plus.
“So I’m definitely excited about Saturday’s match, it should be a fantastic spectacle.”
