Roar stalwart re-signs for 2016/17 season

Brisbane Roar has announced the signing of vice captain Jade North for the 2016-2017 Hyundai A-League season.

Named captain in the Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) A-League Team of the Year, North capped off an excellent season where he played every minute of every game for the Roar, agreeing to a 1-year extension.

North was extremely happy to sign on with the Brisbane Roar again.

“I would like to thank John and all of the coaching staff for having so much faith in me. I look forward to once again playing my part next season, helping the team improve and have continued success,” North said.

Brisbane Roar Head Coach John Aloisi was full of praise for Jade’s contribution to the team.

”Jade showed us this season that he still has the hunger and quality to play at the highest level. We couldn’t be happier that Jade will be wearing Roar colours for at least another season,” Aloisi said.

A Championship winner with the Brisbane Roar, and a leader both on and off the field, North has amassed 179 Hyundai A-League games and will continue to help, guide and develop the next generation of defenders coming through the Brisbane Roar ranks.

“He is not only a leader and winner on the field but a mentor for our young squad off it,” Aloisi said.

Capped 41 times for the Caltex Socceroos, a winner twice of the National Soccer League and Hyundai A-League, North is as determined as ever to add more titles to his trophy cabinet.

“I really want to continue to learn and improve my game, adding to the championships I’ve already won,” North said.
