Thomas Broich’s late winner – his first goal of the season – could prove crucial in the great race for the Premiers’ Plate with the German saying it was a relief to finally score.
Speaking after Roar edged the Jets 2-1 on Sunday to regain top spot – albeit temporarily with Melbourne City playing Perth Glory immediately after – the midfield maestro said it was his time to shine as Roar eye the Premiership trophy.

“I had a lot of chances this season. It was my time,” the 36-year-old told Fox Sports.
Roar came back from one goal down to seal the points in a second half that exploded into life after a lacklustre opening 45 minutes.
The Jets took the lead early in the second half but Roar found a way to score twice at Fortress Suncorp against the 10 men of Newcastle.
“The reaction was great,” added Broich when asked about the second half comeback.
“We knew what was at stake. There was no chance that we were going to lose this game tonight.”
And Broich paid tribute to Henrique, the second half substitute who earned then scored the penalty before the little Brazilian provided a glorious dummy for Broich to crash home the winner.
“It’s not just the goals [he scores]. It’s his whole creativity and intensity. it’s a pleasure to play with him,” said Broich.
Roar now head to Melbourne this Saturday for their final game of the regular season against a Besart Berisha-less Victory, with Round 27 set to be the most exciting final round in Hyundai A-League history.
