Perth Glory will be striving for a fourth consecutive win this weekend when they meet Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Glory head into the match with team spirits boosted, after a 1-0 win over Wellington on Sunday.
Chris Harold was the goal scoring hero in the 21st minute after his powerful header helped Glory earn the full points in the second leg of the Long Distance Derby Cup.
Coach Kenny Lowe said he was thrilled for his young winger, who scored on the back of a new two year deal.
“I’m thrilled to bits for him. He’s getting the rewards for the hard work he’s been putting in now he has to go that extra step”.
Sydney however will be a different proposition.
Their star studded line-up boasts some of the biggest names in the Hyundai A-League including former Glory striker Shane Smeltz.
Last time Glory and Sydney locked horns at Allianz, Perth came from a goal down to win 2-1.
Lowe stuck to his mantra.
“It’s history it doesn’t count for anything. But I’ll take a 2-1 win any day” he said.
Lowe said the Wellington victory, the teams second on the road this season, had left the boys feeling confident in the lead up to the clash with fifth placed Sydney.
“Everyone’s focused and looking forward to the match. There’s a spring in their step, but we know it’s going to be a tough match as well.”
The team has spent the past week in Wellington, training for the clash before it heads to Sydney on Friday. Lowe said the extra stay in Wellington had brought the lads together.
“It’s been fantastic; it’s really been a great time. The training sessions have been good and off the back of a win everyone’s in good spirits, it’s been excellent.”
Lowe said there were a few knocks and niggles within camp but he was confident his big guns would be ready and firing comes Saturday.
Glory returns home to host Brisbane Roar on February 20. All ADULT tickets to that match can be purchased for $20 ( online purchases only and subject to availability)
