Former Liverpool hero Luis Garcia is set to touchdown at Sydney international airport on Thursday morning to begin his Hyundai A-League adventure with Central Coast Mariners.
The Spaniard is set to train with his new teammates at Central Coast stadium on Friday.
And on Saturday he is expected to wear the yellow jersey of his new club against former Asian Champions League winners Western Sydney Wanderers, who are second on the A-League ladder.
If Garcia can inspire his new teammates to a win it’ll be one of the bigger upsets in the A-League this season.
The club is expecting its biggest crowd of the season.
Fans of the elegant forward as well as his new supporters in Australia were keen to welcome him on Twitter to the picturesque Gosford stadium, famous for its palm trees and views of the water.
Former teammates such as Stephen Warnock sent messages of support but one ex Red Jason Macateer sent him a cheeky request on Twitter as the forward flew off.
www.a-league.com.au will be there to report from Garcia’s arrival and first press conference as an A-League player on Thursday morning.
