Sky Blues duo predict more derby delight

They say form goes out the window for a derby and Sydney FC’s Matt Jurman and Milos Dimitrijevic have echoed that sentiment ahead of Saturday’s clash against the Wanderers at Pirtek Stadium.

With the Sky Blues heading into the clash off a comfortable win at the weekend and the Wanderers play having lost to Melbourne City, Jurman and Dimitrijevic believe Saturday will follow past derbies in providing a great spectacle for the players and fans.

“I think form sort of goes out the window as they say,” Jurman said.

“It’s great [the atmosphere]. The derbies have been great ever since they came in. Whether it’s at their ground or our ground it’s very noisy. We only have 2000 fans there but they make a lot of noise and I’m sure they’ll do the same this week.

“We play to win and to take the three points, this is the derby, a very, very important game for the fans and also for us,” Dimitrijevic continued.

“It’s different [to Serbia]. The derby in Belgrade exists for many, many years, but it’s a good game here.

“Last time we played out there it was a good game, we won 4-3, and every game against them is a good game to play and a good game to watch. We all can’t wait for Saturday.”

The pair also stressed the importance of continually improving.

“I still think we’ve got a lot of improvement in the team, some boys are still out. There’s great potential in this team and the depth that we have as well, it’s great to have,” Jurman said.

“I think we’ve got a lot of confidence going forward and if we can get a good run with some good results we can get near the top.
