Western Sydney coach Tony Popovic says his side fully deserved the three points after they came from a goal down to beat the high flying Jets on Saturday afternoon.
Looking to maintain their unbeaten record at Hunter Stadium the Wanderers went behind midway through the second half but scored two late goals to record back-to-back wins.
There was an air of contention about the first goal scored by both sides but Popovic felt the rub of the green definitely went the home team’s way.

“The penalty was a penalty,” said Popovic post-match.
“The first one it’s hard to understand how that isn’t off-side but it was given, we can’t change that.
“In the end the response was great. We equalised. They had a chance still after that.
“They also had ten minutes to try and get the winner but we got it so we go home very pleased.”
The Wanderers counted themselves unlucky to be bottom of the table a fortnight ago but luck was not a word Popovic wanted to use after seeing his side move into the top six.
“Luck is not the word I’d use but you can feel free to use that,” said Popovic. “I thought it was a well-deserved victory.
“I thought we controlled large parts of the game. It was a good, a tough match. That’s what we expected.
“They’re on nine points, full of confidence. So to come away with three points, with two late goals is really pleasing.”
Popovic went on to elaborate on how he thinks his team has started the season and predicted they’d face another stern test against Melbourne City next weekend.
“The form we’ve had in the first five games, what we haven’t had is the results to match that.
“We’ve been playing well, creating opportunities, just haven’t been able to finish teams off when we’ve been on top.
“The way we’ve been playing everyone is pleased at the club but now we’ve had two consecutive games where we’ve picked up the three points.
“We’ve now got another tough game away to Melbourne City next week but we’ll go there with a lot of belief.”
