Wanderers defender not fearing return to Perth

Former Perth Glory defender Scott Jamieson is confident there won’t be any fiery exchanges between him and the Glory faithful when he steps out onto the pitch at Dorrien Gardens for his new team Western Sydney, in the Westfield FFA Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday night.

After playing in the purple strip for the past three years, Jamieson moved back home to Western Sydney at the end of  the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League season to join the Wanderers along with his former Glory teammate Mitch Nichols.

Ironically it was Jamieson’s stunning free kick (and only goal for Glory) against the Wanderers at nib Stadium last season, that sealed the three points in the Round 6 encounter.

The 26-year-old said he wasn’t expecting any ugly clashes with fans on Tuesday night.

“I was very grateful for all their support and I’ve shown great respect to them,” Jamieson said.

 “Respect isn’t deserved it’s earned.”

“I’d like to think that they won’t boo me or anything like that. I’ll be respectful and clap them because they supported me over a long period of time.”

“I’m particularly looking forward to seeing Hutcho (Hutchinson) the physio and Lambo (Brett Lambert), both of them were the first ones to look after me when I ruptured my Achilles and the three of us grew really close,” Jamieson said.

“They’re the two I’m most excited to see from the club, that’s for sure.”

Scott Jamieson scores a free-kick against the Wanderers.

Most of all, Jamieson is excited to return to Perth for a competitive game of football.

“To come back to Perth where I met a lot of good people and a lot of good friends where we had a successful time, it’s exciting,” Jamieson said.

“To go to Perth is another little exciting part of the (Westfield) FFA Cup.”

“I had a taste of making the (FFA CUP) final last year with Glory, so this opportunity to try and win a cup is exciting.”

“Hopefully we can play to our strengths and win the game.”

Kick-off is at 6.30pm.
