Sydney FC sign Slovakian as new marquee

Sydney FC has completed the signing of Slovakian international Filip Holosko on a two-year-deal.

The Sky Blues snapped up the forward from Turkish giants Besiktas where he spent eight years, scoring 42 goals in 144 games.

“I am delighted to be able to announce Filip Holosko as our international marquee for the next two years,” said Sydney FC Chairman Scott Barlow.

“The signing of Holosko is the latest in a long list of first class marquee players to have worn the Sydney FC shirt.

“Graham Arnold was very specific in type of attacking player he wanted to bring to Sydney FC, he has found that in Filip and we are delighted to have been able to secure him for the club.

“We look forward to welcoming Filip to Sydney in early August and to watching him play a major role in our bid to become Hyundai A-League Champions in 2015/16 and 2016/17.”

Sydney FC have signed Slovakian international Filip Holosko as their new marquee.

31-year-old Holosko has played in both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup competitions for Besiktas and comes with a vast array of international experience after 65 caps for Slovakia.

Head Coach Graham Arnold believes he will thrill supporters and provide the firepower the Sky Blues need for another assault on the Hyundai A-League title.

“Filip is a multi-functional player who can play anywhere across the front-line,” he said.

“After having to replace Bernie Ibini, he fitted the requirements of what I was looking for.

“He comes with a top pedigree having played for a massive club in Turkey and brings a lot of international experience to the squad.

“He has the style of a strong and fast player who I am sure will excite the Sydney FC fans.

“He’s also at a great age and is hungry for success,” he concluded.

Holosko will join his new team mates at the start of August along with fellow new international Milos Ninkovic.
