Villarreal have landed in Australia ready to put on a show for the Adelaide fans when they take on the Reds as part of the LFP World Challenge.
Villarreal coach, Marcelino Garcia, explained at the press conference ahead of their match against Adelaide United, that they’ve travelled to Australia with the intention of offering both a good image of Spanish football and entertainment to the fans.
“We seek victory, but at the same time, make it an enjoyable party for all,” said Marcelino.
“We are so far enjoying this experience and this country, but we know we have to play two games and we want to give a good image.
“We want to be competitive, because we know that our opponent will be and we are obliged to try to play well and put on a show.”
Adelaide United coach, Josep Gombau, together with Isaias and Osama Malik said that for the Reds, it’s a real privilege to compete against a team like Villarreal.
“It is an honor to play with a team like Villarreal and that they’ve come to play a game in our town, on our pitch,” explained Gombau.
“We have already seen this season what is capable of Villarreal, and the truth is that they have had a great season.
“We want to show Australian football and the growth we’ve had in this country, as it’s a game that can be seen in Spain and that is a great motivation to play well.”
