Jarred Gillett to referee Hyundai A-League Grand Final

Football Federation Australia (FFA) Director of Referees Ben Wilson today announced that Jarred Gillett has been appointed to referee the Hyundai A-League 2015 Grand Final between Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC at AAMI Park in Melbourne on Sunday 17 May.

Gillett’s appointment comes after he was crowned Hyundai A-League 2014/15 Referee of the Year.

Wilson congratulated Gillett on his second appointment as the Hyundai A-League Grand Final referee and paid tribute to his outstanding season as a match official.

“Jarred’s appointment to the Grand Final is a result of his strong performances in the Hyundai A-League throughout the season.

“From our assessors, he was the most consistent referee in all areas and a worthy appointment to the biggest match of the season,” concluded Wilson

Speaking from his hometown of Brisbane today, Gillett was delighted to have been selected to officiate this year’s Hyundai A-League Grand Final.

“As match officials, this is what we work towards throughout the season and it’s an honour to receive the appointment,” said Gillett 

“I’m lucky to have a supportive family, partner and employers who have helped me achieve what I have this season.  

“The standard of the Hyundai A-League has been really high this season.

“I’ve got an outstanding team with me for the match and we are really looking forward to being part of Sunday’s Grand Final,” concluded Gillett. 

Wilson also announced that Gillett will be joined by Assistant Referees Matthew Cream and David Walsh with Kris Griffith-Jones as the Fourth Official and George Lakrindis as the Fifth official.
